The scholarship committee recently announced the 2018 recipients of the two college scholarships that are sponsored by our local LSU Alumni group.
It was announced that Meg Caviness was awarded the Jan Moore Memorial Freshman Scholarship. Meg is the daughter of John and Margaret Caviness and graduated in May from St. Agnes. She was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Meg received numerous "Top Honors" awards in high school, and she plans to major in Physical Therapy at LSU.
It was also announced that Rainey Charbonnet was awarded this year's Joe Olivere Memorial Upperclass Scholarship. Rainey is the daughter of Kenny and Laura Charbonnet, and if her name sounds familiar, it's because she was the 2016 recipient of our freshman scholarship. Rainey is an Interior Design major with a 4.1 GPA in LSU's College of Art and Design. She has been on the President's Honor Roll for all 4 semesters and has been named to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars in both 2017 and 2018.
The Scholarship Committee received several outstanding applicants for our 2018 upperclass scholarship. As a result, the committee named Sara Kutas as the second-place finalist and honored her with a $500.00 scholarship. Sara is the daughter of LSU-Memphis members Dr. Pat and Suzanne Kutas.
Congratulations to all of these outstanding students. We wish you much success in your future academic endeavors. We know you'll make us all proud!! Don't forget that your support of our local alumni group and it's activities helps us to fund and provide these scholarships for local Memphis area students attending LSU.
THANK YOU!!
